Collector Spotlight: @marshallahsram_ Is All About That (Air Max) One
Hey man! Let's kick this off. What’s your name and location, and which Air Max got you hooked?
Hey, I’m Chris, but my friends call me Marshall – hence the IG name. I’m from a small place called Salisbury in the UK. I’ve been hooked on Air Max for a while now, but one of the pairs that changed my perspective on actually looking after pairs and not beating them into the ground was the Air Max 1 ‘Sandtrap’.
What’s on-foot right now?
I’ve just had my pairs land at my place from the recent Premium Goods Air Max 1 release. They were region-specific, but with a bit of work I managed to cop. So, I’ve got the ‘Houston’ on-foot right now.
Tell us, out of all your pairs, is there one that means the most? What’s the story?
My children made me an Air Max 1 ID as a gift for Father’s Day, and every option they chose themselves – being five and seven years old, I didn’t know what to expect! They did an incredible job, and this pair will always be sentimental to me.
The Air Max 1 is such a staple in the Swoosh line – what is it about this shoethat makes it your go-to?
It’s a silhouette that completely changed the sneaker scene with its visible Air. I love the history behind it and the stories that each release over the years can tell. The comfort is great and they can be worn for any occasion.
You're in the UK – so coming into Autumn, what’s your rotation looking like at the minute?
It’s the school holidays right now, so with a bit of time off it’s been a heavy rotation of beaters and heaters. On deck are the Parra Amsterdams, Anniversary Reds, KOI Big Bubbles, Kid Robots, and the size? ‘Considered’ colab.
Which Air Max model or colourway do you reckon deserves way more love than it gets?
The OG Anniversary 'Aqua' is such an incredible colourway. 2017 is the only time this colourway has been retroed since it was released in 1987, compared to the other OG pairs retroed over the years. It definitely doesn’t get the love it deserves!
What’s your funniest (or scariest) Air Max memory?
The moment that still sticks with me – and people who wear older pairs can probably relate – was a few years ago, [when] me and my wife were in London for the day. I had a pair from 2005 on foot, and gave them a quick check before we left to make sure the soles were still firm. Anyway… towards the end of the day the Air unit split, and shortly after, the midsole went too – crumbling with every step. I didn’t have a backup pair with me and probably left a trail of midsole pieces down Oxford Street. I was just praying I could make it back home without having to finish the journey in my socks, carrying the shoes.
Of all the AM1s you've managed to get your hands on, which are your three rarest finds?
Over the years I’ve managed to pick up some pretty rare pairs – searching for specific releases every day for years has to pay off eventually, right?!
AM1 Hyperstrike ‘Albert Heijn’ F&F (1 of 24)
AM1 Hyperstrike ‘Kid Robot’ F&F (1 of 72)
AM1 DJ Kaos F&F (1 of 20)
I buy all my pairs in my size, and it’s known that some of the ones I own are the only pairs in the world in this size.
Your collection is already fire – but is there a grail you’re still chasing?
I think the chase and the hunt never stops! There’s certainly pairs I would still love to own, like the OG 1986 Big Bubble. Another thing that I would love to be able to achieve is having Tinker sign my 1987 OG pairs.

Last one, now! What does being a part of the Air Max community mean to you?
The Air Max community is huge – there’s collectors in every part of the world. Speaking to and meeting different people from around the globe, purely Air Max-related, is amazing. I’ve made friends with some incredible people from the Air Max community and created some memories that will last a lifetime.
