Berlin has carved out a reputation as Europe’s premier sneaker destination thanks to its zealously passionate local community, as well as a trailblazing core of local retailers.

A historic urban sprawl where subcultures continue to thrive, Berlin has a high concentration of crep hot spots, stocked with gigantic inventories, and decked out with stunning contemporary showrooms.

The German capital is a bona fide case of quality and quantity, so we can imagine planning an itinerary as a sneakerhead would be quite the headache.

Fear not, however, we’ve done the grind work for you, curating our list of must-visit locales. Achtung, sneakerheads – you have to add this city to your bucket list ASAP.

Overkill – Köpenicker Strasse 

Responsible for some of our favourite collaborations over the years, Overkill is one of most respected establishments in the sneaker game. Located in the bustling Kreuzberg district, the 650-square-foot space is packed to the brim with the latest releases, hand-picked rare drops, racks of streetwear, and Berlin’s largest inventory of graffiti gear. 

Ladies and guys looking for bae-sized offerings can also pop into Overkill Women next door for a showroom full of the latest women’s releases and apparel.

KICKZ have been supplying Berlin’s sneaker community with the latest releases since 1998. The retailer’s premium store – not to be confused with the specialty basketball locale out west – has one of the most impressive sneaker walls in the country, packed with everything from the latest Jays to special edition Vans.

A short walk down from KICKZ is specialist menswear and sneaker hub Soto. Offering a slightly more opulent selection of creps, the modern space brings together a curated lineup of American, European and Asian designers, as well the usual sneaker suspects. From adidas to Alexander Wang, Nike to NEIGHBORHOOD – Soto’s got you covered.

Sneakersnstuff Berlin opened its doors for the first time in late 2016, adding to the retailer’s European legacy. With its Bauhaus-inspired details, the 3000-square-foot space is blessed with the renowned SNS charm and inventory. Expect to see long lines out the front whenever a hyped drop is on the horizon.

VooStore - Oranienstrasse  

VooStore is a ‘culturally empowered, creatively driven’ concept space in the heart of Kreuzberg. The courtyard set-up and surroundings may be uniquely Berlin, but inside you’ll find sneakers and apparel from a swag of international designers.

Also, be sure to grab a brew and a bite at the in-house café: Companion Coffee. At VooStore, it’s all about good taste.

Popping into Firmament is worth it just for the extensive range of high-end streetwear, but the hefty lineup of visvim and Vans Vault gems will keep sneakerheads more than satisfied. Known for collaborations and extensive range, Firmament is also stocked with pieces the likes of Supreme, CdG, Stone Island, WTAPS, and much more.

Hankering for some hype? Vaditim is arguably Berlin’s best consignment streetwear/sneaker spot. You’ve been warned, though – be prepared to part ways with quite a few Euros if you decide to cop.

Founded by Stepan Timoshin, one of young up-and-comers in the local scene, Vaditim is stocked with tonnes of coveted creps – including Yeezys, hyped Jays, and the latest Off-White collaborations. It’s also known to be frequented by local celebrities and Bundesliga stars.

Yumalove could be Europe’s cutest sneaker store. Exclusively stocking kids sneakers, the store was founded by Kwon Kim, who was inspired after a round-the-world trip and the birth of his daughter. Definitely a must-visit if you’re looking for something for the little footers.

Started in 2009 by Alex Flach and Andreas Hesse, Civilist took over a former art gallery and transformed it into arguably Berlin’s coolest skate shop. A place where a ‘different kind of people could meet – musicians, artists, skateboarders, BMX riders’, the store is stocked with the latest street wear, plus a huge range of skate footwear staples – most notably Nike SB.

A name synonymous with Berlin’s sneaker scene, Solebox has a world-renowned selection of timeless classics and technically progressive models. Aside from the sneakers, visitors will also encounter the ‘Solebot’ – a robot who hands out pairs to you fully automatically.

The inspiration behind the design concept was to imitate the look known from an industrial warehouse. Executed on every detail, the balustrade mimics an industrial cage, while the counter is made of an illuminated high-rise rack.
