Saturday April 5th marked the first time that the Sneaker Freaker Swap Meet ventured outside of our Melbourne home turf. For the inaugural interstate expedition we teamed up with New Balance, Jason Markk and Laced to bring the whole shebang to sunny Queensland. Taking up residence above Laced's CBD location the day kicked off with stall owners setting things up early in the morning. Within an hour the doors were flung open to the public, and boy did things get hectic after that! Peeps rolled in from all over the Sunshine state, and even a few brave Southerners made the trip to check out what the fuss was all about.
With Brisbane's best and brightest out and about the vibes were chilled and the weather warm, not more could have been asked for. With some heat on offer there was more cash flying around than in a Rick Ross track; from your run-of-the-mill ASICS rarities to golden Air Max classics, some of the planet's rarest NBs, all iterations of Yeezys and of course Red Octobers for good measure. Brisbane stood tall and said "Oi don't rule us out just yet son" and all of Australia had better recognise, the banana benders know how to pick 'em.
There's a little more to the Swap Meet story, involving a select few and an after-hours gathering at Laced the night before but you'll have to wait 'til later in the week to get the low down on that situation... In the meantime check the gallery above to browse through some of the heat. A huge thanks goes out to New Balance, Jason Markk and Laced for kicking off the Swap Meet season with us and of course everyone that had a table and came along on the day. Time to gear up for Melbourne this weekend!
