We’re still buzzing here at Sneaker Freaker after our mammoth Big Kahuna event this past weekend. The gods might have been against us, with rain keeping some of the cars and bikes away, but nothing could stop thousands of sneaker freaks from soaking up over 100 tables chockablock with pure feet heat. Throw in a room full of vintage skateboards, the Saintside low-rider bike show, GripShiftSlide’s killer JDM whips, an appearance by sneaker model Genevieve Chanelle, rack upon rack of vintage apparel, plus tunes from Moonshine and DJ Peril and you have one epic day to remember.
From the stall holders to the people who came from interstate, thanks to everyone who helped make it possible. But most of all, thanks to Steve D and everyone at Globe for their immense contribution to the event. This was a high point for Melbourne’s streetwear and sneaker community and without Globe’s support, holding the event at this scale would simply not be possible.
We had a great time and we hope that you all did too! Check out this batch of recap snaps from Milan (Previor) and the guys from THE KICKZ STAND and we look forward to seeing you all again next time at The Big Kahuna #2.
