World renowned kicks customiser SBTG has teamed up with visual culture magazine and interactive new media property Kult to create a one-off pair of customized Nike Dunk His for the magazine's forthcoming AIDS issue. The shoes are going up for silent auction, with the profits going to the Africa Health Placements project to buy medical equipment in rural Africa. The silent auction invites bidders from anywhere in the world to email their proposed price for the shoes to [email protected] by April 21. The highest bidder will be announced to the public at facebook.com/kult3D on June 1. They will receive a pair of shoes in their size customized with SBTG's exclusive ‘Kult Darling' design.
SBTG, otherwise known as Mark Ong, forms part of the Royalefam collective. SBTG has been commission by industry giants like Nike, DC shoes and New Balance, and has created personal pieces for the likes of Kobe Bryant, Kanye West, James Lavelle, Mike Shinoda, Joe Hahn and Q-tip.
Kult is free quarterly magazine based out of Asia. Each issue of the visually-led publication explores a specific universal theme through the work of specially invited designers, illustrators, photographers and artists from around the world. The printed magazine also comes in the form of a multi-sensory online experience as well as a retro-inspired roaming interactive 3D ArtCade Machine (which was recently showcased at the Microwave New Media Festival in Hong-Kong and is now touring Singapore). Kult are further supporting this initiative with exhibitions and talks in tertiary institutions across Singapore.
Available globally on subscription and free in Singapore, Kult's AIDS issue tackles the global pandemic in a new way by presenting straight-up need-to-know HIV/AIDS facts through visual interpretations created by over 30 established designers, photographers and illustrators from across the world.
