Last week saw the launch of Nike's TPE 6453 Energy Center (Taipei) with the Nike Cortez history exhibition. Located in Taipei’s East District, the area is blossoming into a hot bed for street wear stores and sneaker joints. It’s only natural that Nike takes up a piece of prime residence with a gallery space to launch and exhibit their latest sneaker drops and techno gizmos.
The first installment saw many local celebrities turn out, as well as DJ Mick Boogie (Press Play Show) direct from the US, who provided the soundtrack to the night with his signature remixes and mind-blowing scratch routines. With the launch of the heavily-hyped Nike Cortez Flywire collection on show, the event was complemented by a well-researched archival exhibit of vintage Nike Cortez. Even the Cortez Brothers from Tokyo Plastic made a special appearance, gracing the windows of the TPE. To top it off a massive touch screen dominated the space, which allowed party-goers to turn, drag, zoom in, rotate pictures, play movies and send images of the Nike Cortez to friends via email.
Thanks to the heads at TPE 6453 we have an exclusive behind the scenes look at what went down on the night. Also check out Mick Boogie's video here, as he gets to check out the space earlier that day, and get a sneak peek into the one sneaker everyone is talking about right now........where are you Yeezy?!
