Metro Boomin doesn't trust many people, but the famous hip hop producer believes in New Balance enough to become the newest ambassador for the brand's NB1 sneaker customising platform. To show just what the NB1 project can do, Metro remixed the iconic 998 silhouette – hitting the nubuck upper with a black as dark as his brooding signature sound, and covering the tongue and ‘N’ branding in contrasting pastel pink.
The shoe ties in with Metro’s personal style, which he describes as an affinity for basics with a twist. ‘I really like simple stuff’, he explains, ‘[with a] splash of something crazy somewhere, like a splash of pink’.
If you’re feeling the design, the shoe is the example 998 model when you visit the NB1 site. All you have to do is add your own message to the heel.
Aside from the 998, you can also add you personal flare to the 990 and 574. Each shoe is part of New Balance's prestigious Made In USA line, meaning at least 70 percent of the shoe is made up of stateside materials. Check out the 'the most trusted man in hip hop' talking about NB1 below.
