Kawhi Leonard is Suing Nike

It looks like Kawhi Leonard is now involved in multiple battlefronts – one on the court, and one, well, in court. The 6 ft 7 prodigy hailing from Los Angeles is currently locked in an intense battle with the Golden State Warriors, the series tied 1–1, whilst also attempting to wrestle creative control of the ‘Klaw’ logo from Nike.

In a federal lawsuit launched on Monday, Kawhi contends that the ‘Klaw’ design was conceived while he was still in college, and gave Nike permission to use it only ‘on certain merchandise’. The lawsuit argues that the design was later copyrighted without Kawhi’s consent.

Last week, New York Times reporter Marc Stein revealed that the Los Angeles Clippers had ‘quietly looked into ... purchasing the rights to Leonard’s Klaw logo’ in an attempt to lure the potential Finals MVP from Toronto.

As always, keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for all things Nike, the Klaw, and the Battle of the Bay (set to resume on Wednesday).
