Wearing OG sneakers on-court in an official NBA game is a stunt, but stunts are dangerous — as Isaiah Thomas found when he tried to play in a pair of ‘POP’ Zoom Kobe 4s.
The stunt was likely an homage to the time Kobe wore the same shoes, but wearing a sneaker that dates back to 2009 (think: when the first iPhone 3 was released) is a high-risk move. Spoiler: the sneakers fell to bits. Their sole started giving as much lip as Kobe used to, and Thomas was forced to change tyres.

Here’s hoping he kept them as a memento.
