Nike SB Dunk Hi RESN ‘Gucci’ 2005
In 2005 Nike SB was on top of the game. Taking a step back from the pros, Nike released a ‘Team Manager’ pack containing shoes designed by the managers of various skate teams. This one here can be attributed to Sam Smyth of Girl Skateboards (with a little help from his pal Nick Diamond). The Gucci colourway, with its dark denim panels, wasn’t the original design idea but could be the reason the shoe never actually release. It could also have been the shoes real design influences, San Fran weed culture, which stopped the production lines. There were 29 pairs produced for friends and family and then that was it. The shoe finally saw a limited retail release in 2009 but it didn’t feature the same RESN tongue tag, so nobody was fooled.
