NIKE AIR MAX 97 ‘SILVER BULLET’ US RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED
Finally, after making the US watch on with FOMO as Europe got releases and restocks, Nike have announced a Stateside release date for the ‘Silver Bullet’ Air Max 97. Built and coloured like a Japanese bullet train, the shoe is also notoriously fast at flying off shelves. You can bet that this April release is going to go gangbusters, so start organising how you’ll board this hype train now – lest you get left behind.
The Nike Air Max 97 Silver Bullet will be releasing on April 15 at multiple US Nike accounts.
'OREO' NIKE AIR VAPORMAX TEASED
Air Max Day brought us the next great advancement in Air tech, with ‘Platinum’, NIKEiD and special designs of the VaporMax landing on the big day. Looking forward to the future, it seems we also glimpse of what’s to come via Instagram. This side shot of a VaporMax bearing an ‘Oreo’-esque knit pattern hints that the colourway is somewhere in the pipeline, but Nike haven’t weighed in to verify anything.
Though the Nike Air VaporMax Oreo doesn’t have a release date just yet, we’ll keep you in the loop when more info comes through.
HAVEN X ADIDAS CONSORTIUM 'TRIPLE BLACK' ULTRABOOST COLAB ANNOUNCED
Canada’s Haven have got an adidas UltraBOOST colab coming that’s perfect for winter. Based in a country known for its harsh temperatures and capricious weather, Haven is all too familiar with the troubles that can come along with wearing breathable, lightweight knits in the wet. So they’ve produced a technically-inclined UltraBOOST to solve these issues.
Coming in ‘Triple Black’ the sneakersock has been given weather-fighting utility via rubberised applications, which form a kind of guard around the shoe’s midsection. The extra support does away with the TPU Cage, and reflective strands through the laces mean dark skies won’t stop these sneaker from shining. The Haven x adidas Consortium UltraBOOST in Triple Black will be available on April 1 from Haven.
SEAN WOTHERSPOON WINS NIKE'S VOTE FORWARD CAMPAIGN
Nike’s Vote Forward 2017 program is done and dusted, the results are in and Sean Wotherspoon has won. The campaign called on the public to vote for designs from 12 ‘Revolutionairs’, with the promise that the winning sneaker would go into production the following year. All 12 turned out compelling sneaker mock-ups, but it was Wotherspoon’s Air Max 1/Air Max 97 hybrid that took it out.
The design sees the wavy panels of the AM97 built with corduroy, in a colourway inspired by 80s Nike running hats, which is then slammed on an AM1 midsole. The aesthetic draws from an affinity for vintage clothing that lead Wotherspoon to open his Round Two store in LA. Nike hasn’t given any release details for Wotherspoon’s hybrid just yet, but we’ll update you as soon as they do.
AIR JORDAN 1 ‘WINGS’ HAVE BEEN REVEALED
Sneaker leakers have taken to Instagram to reveal that an Air Jordan 1 ‘Wings’ release appears to be in the pipeline. Just like 2016’s Wings AJ12, the shoe has a hardy finish over the upper that (hopefully) will wear away to show a feathery motif beneath. From other angles, we can see that the shoe has metal badges with the silhouette of Michael Jordan’s outstretched arms on the heel – a logo that is also embossed on the leather tongue. Underfoot, the translucent outsole shows the colourway name writ large on each shoe.
The Air Jordan 1 Wings release hasn’t been confirmed by Jordan Brand just yet, but we’ll keep you in the loop with further developments.
BAIT DROP BREAKING BAD X CLARKS WALLABEE COLAB
Pop culture-related sneakers have started to become more commonplace in recent years, but never have they made more sense than this official Breaking Bad collaboration from Clarks and West Coast retailer BAIT.

In tribute, BAIT have delivered two different make-ups of the Wallabee. The first, dubbed ‘Blue Sky’ and limited to 400 pairs, features a light blue suede upper with dark blue sole and is themed after the series’ signature ‘Blue’ – aka Walt’s distinctive blue crystal meth. The second colourway, named ‘Felina’ and limited to just 250 pairs, features a deep red upper and gum sole. The said to be a tribute to the bloody showdown in the series’ finale of the same name. Both shoes features full-grain leather hang tags with tri-branding from the collaborators. Both pairs promptly sold out upon release.

Being a top player in the NBA is a gateway to an almost endless supply of sneakers – not to mention a plethora of custom PE make-ups. While the best high school players still have a while to go before they can start signing multi-million dollar endorsement deals and landing their own signature silhouettes, at least some of them will be snagging themselves one of two money-can’t-buy sneakers ahead of the 2017 McDonald’s All-American Game next week. With adidas the official sportswear sponsor for the event, the players will be lacing up in special PE make-ups of the Three Stripes’ latest and greatest on-court models.

NIKE RELEASES AIR MAX-INSPIRED FOOTBALL BOOT COLLECTION
March was unrelenting in its must-cop Air Max drops, but here’s one release that came completely unexpected. In honour of the month of Max, Nike’s football division overhauled three of their most acclaimed performance boots with visual nods to three of the most iconic Air Max models.
Winding back to 1987, the low-cut Tiempo Legend VI cops some inspiration from the Air Max grandadddy – the Air Max 1. It features a simple white and blue colour combo in tribute to one of the OG AM1 colourways. Shifting into the mid-cut realm, the Mercurial Superfly V tackles what is undoubtedly the most iconic Air Max model – the Air Max 90 ‘Infrared‘. The Flyknit upper features a combination of greys, which is decorated with a large white Swoosh and hits of the titular fluro pigment at the heel and sole. Lastly, the Magista Obra II tackles the Air Max 97 ‘Silver Bullet‘ in all its glory, with wavy lines of reflective 3M decorating the upper. All three Air Max-inspired silhouettes are available now at select stockists worldwide.
NOEL GALLAGHER COLLABORATES WITH ADIDAS SPEZIAL
The Garwen is a recent addition to the adidas SPEZIAL range, with a little help from one of Britpop’s most outspoken figure, Noel Gallagher. The design is based on a 70s casual style from adidas called the Brisbane, which was sourced from the extensive collection of Three Stripe obscurities owned by the Oasis front man. After its initial release in a simple brown colourway, Gallagher’s special edition indigo Garwen is landing, complete with his likeness stamped on the tongue.
No release date has been announced for the Noel Gallagher x adidas SPEZIAL Garwen as yet, but expect these to be available in the near future from select stockists, including Hanon.
CONVERSE UNVEIL 'LOONEY TUNES' CHUCK TAYLOR COLLECTION
Converse have collaborated with Looney Tunes’ eclectic menagerie of cartoon critters to create a collection of Chuck Taylor All Stars! Celebrating the retro cartoon, the collection contains four styles in both high and low versions that feature graphics depicting the beloved characters of the series. Tweety, Tassie Devil and Bugs Bunny each get their own All Star in distinct colourways, with the classic ‘That’s all, folks!’ tagline embroidered under their tongues. If you’re struggling to pick a favourite character, the fourth shoe could be the solution – it features the entire cast of the show across its canvas upper. The range will be released for children’s, men’s and women’s sizes – a reminder that cartoons aren’t just for kids.

Both Hanon and Afew announced collaborations with Diadora this week. Hanon are picking up on their ongoing series of transport-themed collaborations with the Italian-made V7000 ‘Midnight Express’. As the name suggests, the shoe has been influenced by night-time travel, its dark colourway a nod to InterCity Sleeper that carries weary travellers across vast distances in Europe. The colab will be available in limited numbers from April 1 at Hanon.
For their collaboration, Afew also bring us an Italian-made V7000. Taking the notion of sneaker addiction to the extreme, their ‘Highly Addictive’ colab is themed around a pharmaceutical theme, complete with medical-inspired box and blister packaging.
