Eddie Huang’s stock is rising. The multi-hyphenate human panda has already staked his claim on television and the culinary world, but we all know you haven’t levelled up until you’ve got your own sneaker. While Huang worked on sneakers before via his restaurant, Baohaus, this colab with adidas is the first to bear his name.
The colab yields two items of footwear; a Superstar and a pair of slides. The slides are bedecked with maps that outline Huang’s heritage. He hopes for you to enjoy them with cuisine that follows suit and, staying the culinary theme, the Superstars have been made especially for the kitchen.
Anyone who has worked in hospitality will know that, short of horrific looking Birkenstocks, no shoe fares well in a cooking environment. The Superstar looks to combat that with a steel toe to protect your phalanges from falling pans and knives. A stain-proof suede will keep them looking good enough to wear out after your shift, and a neoprene sock provides easy access.
The Huang’s World x adidas collection will be available from adidas online on October 8.
