Converse hosted the first-ever Converse Band of Ballers tournament last week at the St. Patrick’s Youth Center in New York City, to celebrate the launch of the Weapon Evo amongst basketball and music fans. The Weapon Evo is a Converse Balls Technology enhanced version of the legendary Weapon basketball sneaker. The raucous event featured bands who have as much passion for the game as they do for their music – competing for the bragging rights of the 'best band in basketball.'
Featured musicians included Jim Jones, Asher Roth, Matt and Kim, Pac Div, Diplo + Mad Decent and Fool's Gold competing on the Soho parquet. Jim Jones's team The Jones Family won in the Finals 10 - 2 over Pac Div. The six competing teams were comprised of the band members, producers and entourage playing 3 vs. 3 half court games with the two teams with the best record competing in the finals.
