While January floated past fairly smoothly here at Sneaker Freaker HQ, there’s always a little bit of controversy to keep things interesting. We decided it was time to get a few things off our chest.. More specifically, we detailed what we did and didn’t want to see on our newsfeeds and on the shelves of boutiques across the globe.
Firstly, we called for No More Off-White in 2019. As you’d expect, that didn’t happen and was met with some resentment amongst the readership. Regardless of what we said, Virgil and the Swoosh are still set to drop two Air Max 90s, but they didn’t seem to live up to the hype of days gone by. Has Virgil deconstructed his last pair of Nikes? Probably not, but the care factor is surely wearing thin.
We begged Nike to put the brakes on the Air Jordan 1, and start to show some more love to the other 32 Air Jordan designs. However, as the month went on we saw colourway after colourway slide across our site. In hindsight, our only real criticisms were that every colourway was too damn nice. No one likes to see an important piece of history tainted. But what do we do if it’s all done this well?
The highly anticipated Air Max 720 finally hit shelves across the globe. Here at our HQ, we argued whether it’s a beauty or a beast? We laced up two of our writers to take on the most gargantuan Air unit of all time. Let’s just say things got a little heated between the two of them...
