For those not in the know, adidas began the venture in 2015. Located in Ansbach, Germany, the goal was to capitalise on the benefits of local production, combining mechanical and human labour to evolve their manufacturing process. The factory was designed for speed and precision, allowing the Three Stripes to create more bespoke, custom sneakers for customers.
The sportswear giant managed to shorten production cycles as well as strengthen Germany as a production location. Synergy between humans and robots is what allowed adidas to grab hold of an innovative competitive advantage. Go team!
