There’s not many worse feelings than spending your hard earned on a new pair, only to find out that it’s fugazi. Customs agents in the Philippines are doing their best to ensure you don’t have to go through that, having seized over $750,000 worth of fake sneakers and goods since the start of the year.
Philippines Bureau of Customs revealed that a smorgasbord of counterfeit creps, beauty products, and skimming devices have been intercepted at Ninoy Aquino International Airport since January. The Bureau’s social media posts show all kinds of fake grails, including Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 1/97s, Atmos x Nike Air Max 1s, Hu NMDs, Yeezy Powerphases, and even Fear of God x Vans Authentics.
In a left-field (but thoughtful) ploy, the fakes will be auctioned and donated to the Department of Social Welfare and Development. That’s a better excuse than ever to cop fake sneakers, we suppose.
