There are not many NBA players that can rival the sneaker legacy of Allen Iverson. The 6-foot Georgetown prodigy broke ankles on the court, and flexed sartorial finesse off it, claiming Rookie of the Year in 1997 and league MVP in 2001. With the longest signature series behind Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson’s deal with Reebok involved several classics immortalised by iconic moments. These are Bubba Chuck’s five most legendary sneakers.

Reebok Answer 4 – 2000

Where were you when Allen Iverson nailed the clutch jumper in front of the Lakers bench before stepping over Tyronn Lue during the 2001 NBA Finals?

Arguably one of the coldest moments in Finals history, Iverson added a little extra sauce to his already delectable 2001 NBA season, the league MVP detonating for a 48-point outburst against the Lakers on their home court. Yes, Tyronn Lue got a good view of Allen Iverson’s Reebok Answer IV in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, one of the best-looking performance models of the era.

With a zip-up closure and full length DMX cushioning, the Answer IV continues to be Iverson’s most popular Reebok signature, the 2017 retro even gathering a fresh batch of salt for Lue’s wounds with a pull out photograph in the sneaker box. The Reebok Answer IV reached a zenith of Reebok sneaker design at the height of Iverson’s career, something the silhouette doesn’t let you easily forget, with an image of Iverson’s face on the sole, insole, and iconic I3 logo on the zipper.

Reebok Question – 1996

Bubba Chuck’s first signature was an instant classic. Immortalised by the moment a rookie Allen Iverson crossed over Michael Jordan, the Reebok Question ushered in Iverson’s epic Rookie of the Year title in 1996-97. A fan of the Air Jordan 11 during his Georgetown years, Reebok designer Scott Hewett took cues from the iconic Jay, incorporating a ghillie lacing system, toe-cap overlays, and translucent outsoles.

In a draft class that included Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Ray Allen, Allen Iverson managed to carve out his own path in the Reebok Question, a sneaker that continues to enamour sneakerheads two decades later.

Reebok Answer – 1998

The first performance model to feature DMX cushioning, the Reebok Answer was a radical departure both technically and stylistically from the Reebok Question. Worn during Allen Iverson’s sophomore season in 1998, the Reebok Answer landed hot on the heels of Question hype, slimming down the model and presenting a much lighter silhouette.

Reebok Answer 3 – 1999

Iverson threw down his first scoring title in the Reebok Answer 3, a clean, light, understated signature that has since gained cult status amongst fans of the ‘Bok.

Debuting in 1999, the Answer 3 was built with nubuck and full grain leather, and represented one of the most well-executed basketball designs of the era. Retroing in 2015, the streamlined silhouette hit a high point when AI went off for a game-high 26 points for the East during the NBA All-Star Game in 2000.

Reebok Answer 5 – 2001

Accompanied by one of the greatest sneaker commercials of all time, the Answer 5 was a commercial blockbuster for Reebok.

Built with in-your-face 3M detailing and 5/8 cut, the aerodynamic silhouette was laced during Iverson’s 2001-02 season in which he averaged a head-spinning 43.7 minutes per game. Finally seeing a retro in July this year, the Reebok Answer 5 featured vintage tumbled leather uppers, matte overlays, and the iconic I3 logo to remind everyone who’s boss.
