The 30 Million Dollar Man: Will Kd Leave Nike?

Date: August 07 2014

By: Sneaker Freaker

Kevin Durant's sneaker deal with Nike has expired following the release of the KD 7, and speculation is rife that the reigning MVP may ink a new deal... with someone else. Nike want their man back, but adidas want him too, and word is Under Armour have got the friendliest cheque writers, with an offer of $30 million per year apparently on the table. It's huge money, bigger than any annual offer before (LeBron gets around 20 mil at the moment), and would far surpass Durant's actual playing wage. It's unlikely Nike or adidas will even attend the ball park to negotiate a similar figure, but they've got other advantages in their corner, like a stable of brilliant players as endorsers (no offence, Stephen Curry, you're all right) and a proven track record with creating popular designs. KD would surely be looking at Dwyane Wade too and probably thinking his arrangement with Li-Ning hasn't exactly been spectacularly successful yet, which may make him hesitant to sign with a rising brand. But then, 30 million dollars is 30 million dollars and KD could probably dominate the paint in a pair of Shape-Ups (maybe not). Watch this space, we'll bring you solid news as soon as it comes in.
