We’ve often said the Ronnie Fieg is one of the hardest working people in the game and now we’ve got the stats to back it up. Taking to Instagram, the KITH-lord ran us back to 2007 when his first collaboration with ASICS released and then tracked forward to current times to announce that this month we’ll see the release of the pair’s 50th collaborative shoe. That’s 50 shoes in less than ten years, and we’re expecting that the milestone will be marked with a particularly special design. We’ll keep you posted as we find out more.
(1/3) I’m a student of the game, and very early on in my career I would study legends that carved a lane in this industry. A major inspiration to me during this time was Nigo of A Bathing Ape. By watching him I learned that products were released with purpose, as each collection would be part of a story, a long story – a timeline.
(2/3) As I began working with Asics for the first time, my approach became creating product that was cohesive, yet showcased constant improvement and evolution. Over a year ago, I was digging through the archives of some of my old hard drives and stumbled across the very first Asics CAD I had ever worked on. It was dated November 2006. I was stunned, as I had no idea 10 years had gone by so fast. Knowing that 2016 would be Kith’s 5-year anniversary, and then knowing that it would also be my 10-year anniversary of working with Asics, I began putting together a collection of products that would combine the past, the present, and the future.
(3/3) This month I will release my 50th pair of Gels with Asics. I’m getting chills as I type this and look at this graphic of my timeline with Asics, because this is a decade worth of blood, sweat, and tears. This is a decade worth of daring to be different and trying to create something that is timeless. This is my legacy.
