With the success of his multiple-release VARSITY BONES Collection in 2009, SBTG is set to release the latest installment in the ongoing series, exclusively for Manila-based sneaker store, CRATE. In July, a special edition one-off custom sneaker, the BLACK MAMBA Dunk High, was designed and presented to NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, as part of the Singapore stop of his 2009 Nike Asia Tour. The shoe has since inspired two successful follow-up versions from SBTG: the Blue Devil Dunk Low released in October for Kicks Lab in Tokyo and the Black Mamba Dunk Low, released last November through the Royalefam online store.
The upcoming release at CRATE will be the first major launch for SBTG's custom sneakers in the Philippines. The collaborative project is also in celebration of the store's second year anniversary last October. The shoe will be a special version of the recent Black Mamba Dunk Low, a tribute to the four-time World Champion's NBA team, the Los Angeles Lakers. The shoe will feature the team's black and purple colors, a leopard print on the rear and '24' and 'MVP' on the heel counters. The CRATE version will have some updated elements including a metallic-finished purple swoosh, "CRATE" and "MANILA" applied on both shoe tongues plus a store call-out on the shoe box.
