Reebok’s partnership with media artist, graphic designer & computer scientist: John Maeda is a first-of-its-kind, Maeda is (amongst other things) a true pioneer and innovator in the world of motion graphics. The creation of Reebok’s John Maeda custom shoe – the Timetanium - marks one of the first times Maeda’s graphics have seen applied to a real world object.
Maeda was trained as a computer scientist and his graphics are derived from mathematical algorithms and programming codes. These mathematical codes were used to create his first shoe -- the Reebok Timetanium. The handwritten mathematical codes themselves are also printed on the lining of the shoe. In his cutting-edge designs, Maeda seeks to humanize technology and move toward simplicity in the digital age. Maeda is a Renaissance man—bringing together seemingly disparate worlds of art and science in a meaningful way. Maeda’s designs are inspired by his “Laws of Simplicity.”
The Reebok Timetanium will be available exclusively on Reebok’s limited edition customization website, ltd.rbkcustom.com for $150 beginning November 13th. This limited edition shoe will only be available to the first 100 consumers.
