GREEK MYTHOLOGY X REEBOK FREESTYLE

What happens when you've gone through every theme, back story and kitsch idea when it comes to thinking of original concepts for your next sneaker? You take it back to the beginning, to a time of mythology and bang out some inspired designs. That seems to be the case with Reebok and their new range of Freestyles, aptly titled 'Greek Mythology'. There's the shielded wonder of Athena as decked out in the woven ankle-strapped bronze Freestyle, Medusa with her snake-charming ways and of course our favourite, for the ladies who love ladies, the Callisto. To find out more about each goddess, read the press release below. Thanks to providermag.it for the images and info!

PRESS RELEASE

Reebok Freestyle Medusa: The only goddess to be fatal. Poseidon was in love with Medusa, and one night he seduced her in the temple of Athena. In response to this offense, the goddess turned Medusa's hair into snakes and caused everyone to look at the eyes were turned to stone. This explains the images of the upper and the snake skin on the neck of the shoe.
The Reebok Freestyle Callisto: Black with images of the constellations, is dedicated to the one that contains a greek myth homosexual seduction between two women. This is due probably to the fact of being the only surviving trace of an ancient rite of initiation archaic (homo) sex between an adult woman and a girl. In the original myth, as a result of his sexual relationship with Diana, Callisto "becomes" a bear only to be "killed" by the goddess herself, and be reborn as the constellation Ursa Major.
Reebok Freestyle Athena In Greek mythology, Athena, daughter of Zeus and his first wife Metis was the goddess of wisdom, particularly of wisdom, weaving, arts and, presumably, of the most noble of the war. Athena has always carried her owl, or owl, whose feathers are represented on this lateralemte Freestyle, and is often represented as a shield door, which appears on the heel, and a helmet.
