Heavily rooted in conceptual designs, PUMA’s motion-inspired range established initial success with the Mostro and is now pushing even farther with this forward-thinking group of footwear. Created under the I.C.W.O. alias: In Collaboration With Ourselves – the unique series is a testament to PUMA’s heritage in design and the company’s commitment to the unordinary. When creating the shoes, the design team took inspiration from different aspects of motion – speed, traction, velocity – and interpreted these concepts into silhouettes at the outermost end of the design spectrum.
The Limited Edition I.C.W.O. series kicks off with the Kugelblitz, with only 500 pairs available worldwide and 30 pairs in Australia to be sold in August 2004. Designed for ultimate display, each pair of shoes will be issued in elegant collectible casing.
Named after a rare form of “fire-ball” lighting, the Kugelblitz heads up the series with a futuristic design that combines an aggressive outsole with a low profile styling. The design features an exaggerated ball-shaped heel construction that provides excellent stability and an unusual silhouette. Ridges along the injected rubber heel stretch into full cavities that curve along the outsole, yielding a fluid look that references the core inspiration of the series – motion. The medial side of the Kugelblitz is accented by mesh inserts, which add texture to the upper and provide ventilation. External contrast stitching and suede paneling provides the finishing touches to this unique design achievement
PUMA® finishes the urban utility with sleek styling using the Kugelblitz Leather Messenger bag, the ultimate accessory to launch in conjunction with the Kugelblitz shoe. The Limited Edition bag also references the unique design of this motion-inspired footwear through rubber heel cups that add structure to the bottom while yielding a contemporary profile. Created for professionals on-the-go, the Kugelblitz is equipped with a two-way zip opening, padded lab top compartment and an integrated pocket organizer. The modern carrier is rendered in black genuine leather that is accented by contrast stitching and air mesh details. The paneling along the flap and front of the bag creates a fluid pattern that hooks up directly with the Kugelblitz shoe.
