Meet the PUMA Clyde
In 1968, the legend was born. A style icon on and off the court, the signature shoe
was made famous in the 1970‘s by N.Y. basketball hero Walt „Clyde“ Frazier. With a
wider last for comfort, a fatter outsole with heavy texture, original Clyde block
lettering, no cat in the heel FOT and an authentic green tongue label, this is the
shoe that started it all. Three decades on still the essence of cool.
The July limited edition release feature three famous New York Knicks colorways
worn by Walt „Clyde“ Frazier on court. The Navy-Natural is the original style that
Clyde sported the most. The Natural-Orange matches the exact color of the Knicks
jerseys and the Orange-Navy is the flashy color combination that was Clyde‘s favorite, worn during special events and in the All Star games.
The Clyde will be PUMA‘s biggest Heritage story in AW 2005. The Chase drop will feature special packaging with giveaway items like: suede brush and shoe-care guide, shoe authenticity certificate, and a collector‘s envelope where one out of each retailer‘s quantity will feature a special signed photo by Walt Frazier himself. Each pair also comes packed with a limited-print run Clyde book featuring a timeline of the Clyde through history with images and celebrity interviews from historic b-boys, hip hoppers, graffiti artists and sneaker fans.
