PF Flyers has just announced its collaboration with rock legend, Johnny Marr, to design a limited-edition sneaker with all proceeds going to charity. Marr, a formative member of seminal group The Smiths and now the lead guitarist of cult band Modest Mouse, has been rocking the classic shoe for sometime now and is quoted saying -
"I was delighted when PF Flyers invited me to design a shoe" "I’ve been wearing PF Flyers onstage for quite awhile and to come up with a design on a sneaker that will also benefit a charity that is important to me is an exciting opportunity."
PF Flyers is pleased to be able to donate all shoes and all money raised by this collaboration directly to charities both in the US and the UK, specifically Cure Autism Now and The Pictor School respectively.
PF Flyers' Brand Manager states that with the rich ties PF has to the music industry it's only natural to have iconic Marr design a shoe.
The PF Flyers Center Lo features luxurious dark blue leather with black accents with Marr’s signature etched on the tongue of the shoe.
Only 108 pairs of this limited-edition sneaker will be available in the US and another 108 pairs in the UK will be available starting on July 10, 2007. US pairs will be available for $80.00 on Cure Autism Now’s website (www.cureautismnow.org), with all proceeds directly benefiting the charity alongside the UK effort to benefit The Pictor School, where pairs will be available for £40.00 at their website.
