This Puma Suede by Scott Bourne is a shoe that is made for serious skateboarding. Like your typical skate shoe it has the beefed up padding around the ankles, increased protection around the important toe for all your ollie and kick-flip needs and a tongue that looks and feels like it’s been injected with growth hormones. Regal red, steel grey and black is a nice, simple change and the fat laces are a throwback to the good old days when the Clyde/State/Suede nestled on the feet of skate park kings around the world.
The hourglass with wings figure on the heel is a nod to Bourne’s own personal motto of ‘memento mori’, which, as those fans of ‘The Streets’ will know is Latin for ‘remember you must die’. Bourne puts his own twist on it claiming that for him it means to chase time and make every moment count. The wings add a different perspective, alluding to the Roman concept that time itself is a fugitive, and you never know when the reaper is coming for ya! So if all you skaters out there want to ‘follow no one’, as the image on the tongue suggests, and rip up the streets with a bit of history then get a pair of Suedes on your feet. Made for skaters by a skater, this is sure to break necks and add a little variety to the mix.
Released December 15.
