KANGAROOS 2010 PREVIEW

After a taste of things to come in 2009, this year looks set to be the big comeback for the skippy heads, aka KangaROOS sneakers. We've shown you the Combat, Sneakerness x Slam Dunk collaboration and Trap Hi in the past, but now ROOS have hit us with a couple of new styles for the twenty ten - The Outcast and K-1. Slightly different to the Combat, the Outcast features a DuraMesh nylon upper and lighter silhouette for those that like to hop, skip and jump. The K-1 is a simplistic mesh jogger that keeps the ROOS vintage heritage on point with its mesh uppers and emblazed bold KangaROOS logo. Launched this month, they should hit stores any day now.

PRESS RELEASE

Established back in the late 70s, SuperShoes fastly grew to become a leading brand in the sneakers segment. The KangaROOS running and basketball kicks of the early 80s were unique in style and influential far beyond the world of performance footwear. The shortened US version ''ROOS'' SuperShoes were immensely successful by sponsorships of NFL and NBA Players. Prominent ROOSters like football hero Walter ''Sweetness'' Payton or basketball legend Clyde ''the Glide'' Drexler pushed the brand to undreamed heights.

The first model was the combat. A runningstyle with a pocket on the side to be filled with stuff like keys or small change...quite useful for joggers like the ROOS inventor Bob Gamm. This was also the motivation to name his product KangaROOS. Name follows function!

The combat was followed by the outcast. The second runningshoe with some parallels concerning style and outfit but packed with a lot more technical features like lightweight DuraMesh surface and an improved cushioning system.

K-1 is no fistfight but a sneaker for the long run with a high functional level. Created for the elite of athletes this performance runner was technically on top in 1983. A great street-cruiser today!
