In the last year or so we’ve detected a new phase of sneakerdom, with trad-sports brands invading catwalks all over the globe in what can only be described as a modern mash-up of fashion and sport, albeit with a typically retro bent. K-Swiss has upped the ante with their new collaboration with Israeli/French/Moroccan designer Yigal Azrouël. There's five styles on offer (although we only have three images right now) and all feature gum soles with uppers in muted colours made from raw cotton, bone suedes and tweed fabrics that pair well with Azrouël’s aesthetic. It’s definitely a step in a new direction for the brand currently best known for free running and five stripes. Props to K-Swiss for taking an upmarket (and left field) approach, these shoes are really nicely put together, especially the Growmet.
