K-Swiss have teamed up with artist Grand High to create the latest installment in their collaborative sneaker portfolio following the success of the 2006 K-Spray collaboration with stencil artists Logan Hicks and Sixten. Grand High, hailing from Washington D.C. USA, was a feature artist with the second K-Spray tour, which aims to take urban art from the streets and into the public domain. Traveling through Asian cities such as Bangkok, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul, Taipei, Manila, Shanghai, and Singapore, the success of Grand High’s creations on tour led to the design and production of the Grand High Ladners.

The Grand High-designed Ladners have been a work in progress over the past year. “We want folks to know that it is a real production shoe, and not a run of customs…Grand High said. “I selected the materials, sketched out a few ideas and got the colours I liked then picked the croc print leather and the ostrich print leather to enhance the overall look of the shoe.”
“Colour is the most important part [of sneaker design]. I want people to match their outfit to the shoes not the other way around…Using different materials is something that makes them pop so when you see them all you can think is “I want those, I need those,” he said.
The Grand High Ladners will only be available in K-Swiss concept stores through Seoul, Taipei, Tokyo and a handful of selected shops in the U.S in September. Limited Grand High T-shirts will also be paired with some packages in Asia.
