The story of the traditional Oxford shoe is kinda cool. It began life as "The Oxonian" - a half boot with side slits that were popular at Oxford University in about 1800. As fashion changed the side slit became a lace and the boot became a shoe, resulting in today's Oxfords.
A well made Oxford is built using the famous Goodyear construction, unfortunately most Oxfords produced today use cement to fix the sole to the upper and do not sew the upper to the sole.
We have used a hand sewn Goodyear construction. Only few factories in the world are capable of producing shoes with this construction today.
Our Oxford X Ray fuses the traditional with the modern, combining hand sewn Goodyear construction and the FEIT X Ray Sole.
The X Ray sole highlights the hand sewn Goodyear construction, as well as the shoe's internal components. The transparency brings 3 major internal components into plain view - the bamboo shank, cork foot bed and thread weave. The Oxford X Ray features Horween Chromexcel leather, skillfully produced by Chicago's famed Horween leather company. Only 36 balck and 48 Ox blood pairs will be made.
