PRESS RELEASE
Fab Five - Harvey Nichols
For AW11 ellesse heritage has taken five legendary styles of shoe from the archive and offered one of each of the five styles to five of the most influential retailers on the planet to then customise and personalise conducive to their core identity.
The protagonists in the ‘Fab Five' project are as follows:
Colette in Paris x The Assist 1
Grand Boutique in Zurich x The Levanto
Harvey Nichols in London x The Marathon 84'
Sneakersnstuff in Stockholm x The Poli
24 Kilates in Barcelona x The 117
The second shoe to be revealed in the Fab Five series is from Harvey Nichols...
Harvey Nichols ran into the Marathon 1984 head on, this shoe was created especially for the New York Marathon. The Knightsbridge design team have stuck to the ‘sport casual' look and honoured the heritage colours first used on the marathon shoe - premium full grain leather and high quality nylon in the shades of grey and white - the ellesse orange, used as a pop colour, adds a sporty feel and makes this iconic retro style more contemporary. The shoe has been linked to a ‘HARVEY NICHOLS IS WATCHING YOU' concept, inspired by George Orwell's seminal novel 1984, another reference to the original 1984 Marathon shoe. We teamed up with Lomography to give you the small but mighty Cybersampler camera as give away.
