DoggPony Records continually strives to find new outlets for creative expression, the latest example of this being the DC partnership. Their projects have ranged from records to tapes, toys to zines. Most recently, they have crossed over into fashion world by creating DoggPony inspired pieces including tee shirts and shoes with Alife, New York’s premier sneaker boutique. For their namesake shoe DoggPony Records founders Brendan Fowler and Isaac Ramos have taken a minimalist approach to the design. The duo has decided on a single colorway for the DoggPony Double Label shoe, using grey lightweight canvas uppers and contrasting artwork with gold stitching on the toe and heel. They also added a bit more of their own flavor to the project by incorporating DoggPony artwork, courtesy of legendary graffiti writer/tattoo artist Mike Giant, on the custom insoles and specially designed box.
In late 2006, the DoggPony Double Label project will extend to incorporate a Limited Edition Alife/Rivington Club version. Produced in a vibrant yellow and black argyle check pattern that will feature custom stitching, this version will be sold exclusively at Alife. As with all their limited edition shoes, DC has made sure to utilize the technical features that are standard in their performance footwear. DC incorporated a padded tongue and a hidden EVA midsole for comfort and a lightweight cupsole with DC’s trademarked “pill” pattern for grip and wear resistance. Launching in March 2006, the DoggPony will be available at select boutiques and skateshops worldwide.
