Computer shoes are nothing new - check out our The Good, The Bad and the Fugly feature in Sneaker Freaker Issue 22 to see some of the hi-tech gadgetry that sneakers have incorporated over the year. Taking things to the next level, the adidas miCoach SPEED_CELL system provides the wearer with performance tracking that's similar to the GPS stats used by pro athletes to better understand their game. Housed int he shoe's outsole, the cell collects data such as average speed, maximum speed, number of sprints, distance at high intensity levels, steps and stride measurements. The F50 is the first adidas football boot to incorporate miCoach SPEED_CEL, with basketball and tennis offerings on the way over the coming year. Corresponding software for both desktop, smartphone and tablet will go on sale December 1 for $69.99 at adidas Sport Performance stores, soccer and running specialty stores and www.shopadidas.com.
