OPULENT PRESENTS SOUTH RAKKAS AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Only Australia's number one party promoters Opulent can pull of the event of the year! Their distinctive tracks begin with a vocoder drawl calling out, “South Rakkas Crew”, preparing the listener for a fusion of dancehall with anything from Miami bass to electro.

As remixers, South Rakkas Crew are highly sought after by some of music’s biggest names. Acts like DJ Shadow, Beck, Justin Timberlake, Lily Allen and Nelly have all received the SRC remix treatment. Plus they’ve worked with dancehall’s hottest names such as Beenie Man, Vybz Cartel, Capleton, T.O.K, Lady Saw, Mr Vegas and Bounty Killer to name but a few! Their productions have been some of the biggest in dancehall over the past few years.

South Rakkas Crew (SRC) was founded by producer Dennis 'Dow Jones' Shaw in late 2002. Dow Jones teamed up with Alex 'Alex G' Greggs to create what is proving to be one of the hottest dancehall music production teams today. Dow Jones and Miami-based, Jamaican MC, Trixx will be bringing all the fun and noise of the South Rakkas Crew show to Australia. Nice up the dance!

OPULENT PRESENTS SOUTH RAKKAS AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Just to get you up to speed the Opulent boys are here to drop some knowledge on you unsuspecting Aussie kids to give you a few important facts about SRC.

1. SRC gave the world some the biggest riddims of recent years – Clappas, Red Alert, Bionic Ras, Chinkuzi, all were big hits in the Jamaican diasporas.

2. Many leading European DJ's have titled their sound ‘Electro-Dancehall’.

3. Dow Jones has another alias, “King of the cut,” given to him by some of Jamaica's biggest producers, for South Rakka's ability to ' 'chop up', and rearrange songs with such skill.

4. Before joining South Rakkas Crew, Alex G moved to Florida to do some production work for Bass music rappers 95 South and a then unknown Pop group called NSYNC.

5. Before Dow Jones was producing dancehall he was producing Latin rap.

6. SRC has, so far, produced and released 7 albums, 2 riddim albums released through Greensleeves Records, 2 released independently through their Riddim Riddin' series. And 3 albums exclusively to Japan through P-Vine Records, Tsutaya Records, and BMG Japan.

7. They are currently working on a mix for Ninja Tune's 'Solid Steel' mix/compilation series.

8. They like to party.
