Notorious Melbourne-based street-artist Reka is exhibiting his new collection at Wasteland Gallery in Perth on Wednesday 22nd October 2008. For the last 7 years Reka has established himself as one of Melbournes' most notorious street-artists. Reka has successfully moved into the realms of illustration and character design as well as becoming a successful exhibitor of his work, both in Melbourne, interstate and overseas. His work can be seen lurking in alleyways and hiding in train tunnels.
'Against The Grain' is an exhibition of abstracted fantasy art using symbolism and pop icons to convey messages about mans interaction and fragile relationship with nature. There is a true hand made element to this show with the use of natural materials including found objects, wood and hand stretched canvas as mediums for the artwork. Taking cues from this exhibition, Reka will be teaming up with Sneaker Freaker for the No Comply Festival 2008 with a very hush hush project, so make sure if you can't make the Perth exhibit, get down to No Comply in Melbourne next month to witness Reka wreckin' it up!
