BICYCLE FILM FESTIVAL

Melbourne heads better get rolling as the Bicycle Film Festival skids into the city from December 5th to the 9th. With 15 international stops for the past 7 years, the BFF has excited audiences from Rome and Milan to New York and London. A program including an art show, music performances, films and of course one almighty party, this is certainly one of the more diverse festivals that will roll through Melbourne for a long while. The BFF promotes the bike and biking's role in society through a creative platform and seeks to push its status up the social, political and environmental agenda. BFF founding director Brendt Barbur transformed his negative experience of being hit by a bus whilst riding his bike in New York into a positive one, using his compensation money to fund the festival and take biking to the masses.

The Melbourne program includes some killer stuff including a 'spoke art' exhibition at Don’t Come Gallery in the CBD, on the 5th, with work from Mike Giant, RINZEN, Tin & Ed and Stefan Marx, amongst others. Thursday the 6th will see a Three Thousand and Vice co-presented 'bikes rock!' party, which will probably be the only party you'll ever be too with valet bike parking. Friday the 7th to Saturday the 8th will see all the best bicycle films from around the world being screened at the RMIT capitol theatre and finally be prepared to make some friends as on Sunday the 9th the B.est F.riends F.orever bike parade laneway party and the best of BFF DVD screening and closing party take place.

The BFF are looking for volunteers, they have positions available for all nights and for any bike heads; in promotions, valet parking, distribution, front of house, ticketing, ushering and bar work. To start pedallin' send a one page CV to Pip Carroll on pip@ambiguoushorse.com
