Every time Michael Jordan stepped onto a basketball court, he created art. He made everything that seemed impossible, possible. He changed the game and most importantly, he did it with charisma, character and style. Tragedy led him away from the sport, but not even that could hold him down, as he came back better than ever. Jordan is now an icon, but behind that is a real hero.
Jordan is a respectable, idol for kids and adults alike around the world. Growing up it was my biggest wish to watch him play live, something I never got to experience, and I'll always be envious of those who did, but just watching him on my TV set made me want to fly like M.J.
If you watch his videos now, you'll see no one will compare, ever. His documentaries say he took the game to the air, and that he revolutionised the game, and he did. However it was not only this that got him such an amazing following, it was how he came to accomplish this, from a kid playing basketball out the back with his brother, to being the biggest NBA star, and he did it at a time when Johnson, Bird and many other NBA legends played the game. It wasn't a one start game, but he became the greatest.
Those who know a bit about Jordan, know about his finals struggle at the start of his career, that year after heartbreaking year, he hit the same roadblock and just couldn't break through. Until finally one year all the hard work, and dedication, took his team to victory, and the game has never be the same since. He made the number 23 something every basketball fan wanted to wear.
Michael Jordan left behind him a void that will never be filled; he did it for the love of the game. Not for the money, not for the fame. Michael had the right motivation, and it propelled him enough to fly. We should all be so fortunate.
