Michael Jordan, the epitome of perfection, the closest thing to flying without wings. A universal icon; a representation of the strength, courage and determination we all strive to possess. Though most of us have never met Jordan, he has made a home in our lounge rooms, holds a place in our bedrooms, takes us to the court day in, day out, and guides our hands as we shoot. He stands behind us while we smile as the net swishes, encourages us to push ourselves until we can play no more, and tells us to never give up. For me, Jordan has been someone I've always looked up to, not only in basketball, but in all aspects of life. He's fallen and only risen stronger, been dissed and held his tongue, and through all hardships in life still managed to be a great role model to thousands. I have a deep respect for Jordan. I dream, like many, of changing the world. The way Jordan did just that is indescribable. Often when I speak of Jordan, the words feel on the tip of my tongue, but what comes out never serves my thoughts of him any justice. He gave hope to the hopeless, courage to the frightened, and dreams to those who refused them. When I think of all he has achieved and all he had to surpass to become what he has, I feel a deep sense of pride to even be acquainted with Jordan. We endeavour to follow in his footsteps, and when I bend to tie my laces before hitting the court, I can only imagine what it's like to be called the greatest of all time. His shoes are what unite a dreamer from the most isolated city in the world, and the best there ever was. For many, Jordan is a religion, a way of life, and I am blessed to be a witness. His legacy lives on.
