What do you do with your old shoes?
Mine find their way into my closet -- they're there as a backup to my current shoes. But I find that these shoes begin to aggregate; they pile up until I’m motivated to throw them out or donate them. So, I thought, what else can I do with these old soles?
I determined that I could repurpose them into oven mitts.
Thus, the Kickin' Mitt was born.
Check it out on the instructables website. Google "Kickin' Mitts"
Hope you like the project!

I just can't get passed using an old shoe to handle your baked goods. LOL I would get busted over my head with a rolling pin for trying to use this in my kitchen. LOL
I must admit, this is very creative!!!

Thanks Atritionist! Really appreciate it.
Yeah, I've heard that comment a lot regarding using old shoes with your hands, but you can get around that by purchasing really cheap new shoes. The reason I used old shoes was because the project was to upcycle something that was "valueless."
Thanks again,
BP

I totaly understand. Very creative indeed?
Being that you were able to sew leather together, have you every modified shoes via decon & recon or just sewn other panels and peices to one?
Just curious.

This is my first project dealing with shoes and leather. I got advice for sewing this stuff from the woman who runs the Costume Shop in the Theatre Dept. on campus.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
