GENERAL RULES
By registering, you agree that you have read and are bound by all the rules listed on this page as well as throughout the board. We reserve the right to modify these rules at any given time, without warning. Failure to read or abide by these rules may result in your account being banned or suspended, with or without prior warning.
RESPECT:
Our community is built on respect. In fact all communities are built on respect. Respect must be shown to all users regardless of length of membership, age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, taste in sneakers, preferred brands, spelling etc.
Be friendly and kind to all users even though you might not agree on all things. Staff and moderators must also be shown respect, any disrespect will not be tolerated under ANY circumstances. No name-calling, flaming or harassment will be accepted.
Any user found to be doing this (junior or senior) will be suspended then consequently banned for repeat behaviour.
HATERS/NEGATIVITY:
Continued negativity is not tolerated. This applies whether you are directly attacking a member ("flaming"), or posting snide, sarcastic, or mean-spirited remarks on a regular basis. This does not mean you cannot be critical - constructive criticism is always allowed and encouraged. Only post if you can contribute positively - repeated remarks negative in nature are prohibited and will lead to bans. If you do have have a negative view point then provide reason for your claim.
WE'RE HERE TO HELP: If you feel unhappy about something on the forum whether it be content or a user, get in touch with a moderator. Don't suffer in silence.
POSTING:
- - All posts should contribute in some way. Before you post, ask yourself whether or not you will be contributing.
- - Check for an existing thread before you create a new thread.
- - Look for an answer to a question before asking it. Use the search function to do this or check the stickies. Stickies appear at the top of forum areas, they often relate to FAQS or popular threads.
- - If you do have a question that you cannot find the answer to, make sure you provide enough information when you ask your question so other users can help you easily.
- - No Gravedigging. "Gravedigging" is when a user posts in a very old thread. In general, if a thread hasn't been posted in for ages, do not post in it! Instead, create a new thread.
- - Great discussion is based on substantiating your view point. If you like or dislike something, say why.
- - Make sure you are posting in the right area. The forum has been separated into sections to create some order. Help us keep the forum organised by posting in the correct section.
- - No Free Posting. "Free posting" is when one posts non-contributive posts, usually to boost their post count. Usually it means posting an excessive number of times in one forum in a short period of time. We expect members to post when they have something positive to contribute - needlessly posting in any forum will not be tolerated. This includes posting only emoticons or quoting another post without adding any insight of your own.
- - NO FLAMING. No needless name-calling and flaming. Healthy debate is fine. We often feel we need to repeat ourselves on this matter. Any type of personal attacks or "flaming" of any degree is prohibited. Consequences will be decided on a case-to-case basis. In general, members will be suspended or banned, with or without warning. Read above RESPECT and HATERS/NEGATIVITY if you are unclear on this matter. Flaming 'newbies' is played. You were one once, so give the kids a break.
- - Watch what you post. Oddly enough, what you and some others find funny might not be so appropriate for the younger generation checking the forum, or for those browsing while at work. Including NSFW does not sanitise the content of an inappropriate post.
- - No promotion. Blatant use of 'rep codes/affiliate codes' is not tolerated. Pointing out a good sale or a drop is accepted but keep it to that. This applies to both individuals and retail stores.
- - No Sexual harassment: Defined as unwelcome sexual advances, sexual suggestions, or sexual content directed at another user, when reported. Generalized misogyny or misandry not directed at a specific user will still be considered "sexual harassment".
- - You will not post anything indecent that is considered pornographic, obscene, or contains excessive reference to violence and/or explicit sexual acts. This includes representational artwork as well as photographic or video media and includes linking directly to such content from the Forum.
- - Lastly always think about what you post. Hundreds of thousands of people could read your post. Don't lose your job because of something stupid you wrote about your company. Don't blow up auctions. Just think your mother could be reading your posts!
