When did you realise there was a sneaker battle going on all around you?
The first day when I walked through the capital of Trinidad & Tobago, Port of Spain, I was amazed when I popped into some sneaker stores and they had all those crazy US colorways that we didn’t have in Europe. Jordans, Air Max, Dunks, New Balance, Superstars, Suedes – it was all there! I started to watch people’s feet more precisely and then I noticed: ‘Damn! This lost paradise island GOT KICKZ!’

Those girls sure look fine with their beautiful long legs in the Jordans! Did you keep yourself nice on the trip?
Sure did… Yeah, it’s hard to not lose control if you see these Caribbean princesses flying around in the freshest trainers and their tight, colourful gear. Little sad that I didn’t get to meet a real Trinni-Girl. But then suddenly in the paradise of Tobago I met Isla and dreams became real.

Aw, that’s sweet – you met Isla on an island. I noticed there’s quite a few Pumas… I gotta ask what that young couple were doing in the speakerbox?
Trinni people were hooked on the Puma classics such as Suedes and Baskets. In any store with trainers you could find a few Pumas. Then at the parade I saw many people rockin’ the Puma classics even in their costumes. As always in countries like these, people are very innovative with their clothing... sunhappy customising I would call it and as you can see it even sparks great love between folks – maybe just through their funky speakers. HA!
