2009 - BEST OF THE BEST SNEAKERS

Both of my favorite kicks this year come from sneaker designer Qustom Queen, out of the UK!

The first pair (customized, yellow-and-black 'Crime Scene' Nike AF-1s) I discovered backstage at last year’s Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, on display in the VIP tent. They were so hot I went over and asked what I had to do to take them home. Lucky for me the store owner (Yume Yume in Brooklyn) was a fan of my mixtapes, and the kicks were my size, so I struck gold!
A few weeks later I sent word to Qustom Queen that I was a fan of her work, and she offered to make me a new pair. The result? J.Period Exclusives! Hand-painted, one-of-a-kind Nike Terminator Lows, commemorating the first mixtape I produced that spawned fans on a global scale, my 'Best of Lauryn Hill!'

The biggest problem I have now is that both of my Qustom Queen kicks are so fly that I never actually want to wear them in public. Queen, where you at? I need a new pair! Gotta commemorate my slot in the new DJ Hero video game somehow...
