2009 - BEST OF THE BEST SNEAKERS

MICK BOOGIE - NEW YORK
DEEJAY/PRODUCER

Obviously, you can guess that I’m absolutely addicted to sneakers. I buy way too many. And I get sent way too many for free in the mail. Not a bad problem to have, you say! A dream scenario. However, it is impossible to wear them all and as I mature into my Zen-like thirties, I’m learning less is more. And besides, living in NYC it’s even more impossible to store them. So lately, I’ve been looking for fresh sneakers that serve more than one purpose – something I can rock all day and then dress up at night when I have to go deejay.

It was May 2009 when I found the solution. My wife and I came across this super dope Yves Saint Laurent x Puma collaboration. I instantly loved everything about them. The suede looked great and was hella comfy. The Puma soles were great for walking around the city (and long nights in the deejay booth). The tongue was plush. And the toe was designed to pay tribute to the legendary Wallabee. (Being the big Ghostface fan that I am, this instantly appealed to me.) They seemed like the perfect shoe and seven months later, they still are! I picked them up in all black, but I really prefer the original grey/brown suede, as it blends Stefano Pilati’s design prowess with Puma comfort and Yves Saint Laurent’s classic lines. It’s dope and my favorite new sneaker of 2009!
