For anyone who remembers Miami Vice and Boy George, the ‘80s are a curious time when good sense seemed to take a backseat to what is now considered ostentatious bad taste. But there’s no denying it was fun!

Whilst Nike and adidas were locked in mortal combat for the number one footwear spot, it was an inventive upstart known as Reebok that would gazump them both and ultimately ‘own’ the decade. Inspired by the imminent aerobics craze, the historic English brand’s visionary take on fitness came gloriously correct with the Freestyle high top. Sporty yet street enough to take you right from the gym floor to the nightclub door, the Freestyle was the key to unlock a decade where multi-faceted fitness became the global obsession
