ED LOVER AND DOCTOR DRE Ed Lover and Doctor Dre were one of the most visible members of the hip-hop community throughout the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. They are best known as the co-hosts of the popular Yo! MTV Raps program, which began in 1988 and ran until 1995. Over the eight-year run, they became hip-hop icons. For thousands of young viewers across the World, Dre and Lover were the faces of rap music. The duo starred together in 1993's hip-hop comedy Who's the Man, directed by Ted Demme, one of the creators of Yo! MTV Raps. The following year they decided to step out on their own as a recording entity with the release of 1994's Back up off Me. MC SHAN MC Shan can be credited as one of the most remembered B-boys back in the day. He got his break in 1983 when he joined his cousin Marley Marl to become a member of Marl’s Juice Crew All-Stars. After several singles (including the old-school classic “The Bridge”), his 1987 album debut Down By Law was released and Shan established his B-boy persona. The same held for the 1988 follow-up, Born to Be Wild. His 1990 release, Play It Again, Shan, he opted for a new producer and a more mature outlook.
