HOW TO OPEN A SNEAKER STORE

ACCOUNTS & COLLABORATIONS

Motive807: I don’t have a Nike account yet, but should have soon. Every other company I carry was very receptive to my idea of opening a boutique in TX, because I am the only one here interested in these lines. The only collaboration so far has been the art show that Aerosol Warfare put on involving Converse. Thanks again to Christian and Gonzo for that opportunity.

DQM: Working at Zoo York made it a lot easier for me to get a Nike account simply because I already knew a few Nike people.

Classic Kicks: When we first opened we didn’t have Nike but we received a ‘Hot Spot’ award from a magazine. Don’t get discouraged because you’ll find it hard but there are other options and if you execute them properly, you will be recognized. Finalizing collaborations is a very long process. We are trying to get some products ready for the holidays. It is so hard to decide on what to do...I mean we could easily slap two colors on a shoe, but we want it to be absolutely perfect.

Premium Goods: I didn’t even have a Nike account when I first started out. I used to get some sneakers and flip the price. Premium was the first store in NYC to sell the Bapes though. I knew a few guys who worked for them but I didn’t think the prices would work, so I didn’t overdose on my orders.
