NIKE VINTAGE RUNNING

Is that process inherent in using more technology to make the shoes more perfect do you think?
I think if you look at popular culture, people want consistency. Like the car industry, every car comes out looking the same. But there is something about making something that is just a little different than someone else’s, and you don’t know why but you know that that stitch is not exactly like the next one. There is a word in Japan for it, I can’t remember what it is, but it means the love affair of individuality and uniqueness of each product.
Yeah the French probably have a word for it as well. Sometimes it’s the unintentional mistakes that make something beautiful…
Yeah exactly. Someone cared. A human being was part of the process. We’re not promising that each one is gonna be the same but there’s that human touch evident in the creation.
So I think the shoes debuted at the Paris runway event in July 2006. How long did it take to pull this project together?
The project was pretty quick. We put a lot of pressure on a lot of individuals to create and deliver those shoes. Someone actually hand carried the shoes to Paris directly from the factory. And only one of a kind was made for the show in July. There just was no time.
