In Fall 91 the SC III was replaced by the Air Trainer E (E=5?). The TW Lite II was released, the Air Cross Trainer IV High and Low dropped and the IIIs returned in L.E. colours.

Nike dropped the Air Trainer Max on an unsuspecting public. The crazy strap system, cutaway ankle and the evolving collar pointed to the Huarache system that was about to explode.

The Air Trainer Huarache in Spring '92 followed the success of the runner in late '91. It bought a new level of comfort and versatility with the padded lycra inner bootie coddling the foot. Much of the upper was cut away making it well ventilated and incredibly light. Any fear of a lack of support was dispelled by the fat midfoot strap finished in plastic guaze to maintain the ventilation. The trainer was a huge hit when retroed in 2002 for the 10th anniversary.

Fall '92 featured the Air Trainer Platinum Mid and Low, Air Trainer Accel Mid with more Huarache goodness, Air Trainer Accel Low, Air Cross Trainer IV Low and the Air Trainer Lite.
