"Tinker Hatfield was a very good athlete himself - multi-sport, track, b’ball and when he started to break down a little bit from trying too many things too hard he said “I just want to keep in shape, a bit of this, a bit of that. I need a product where I don’t have to change shoes every half an hour.” So we developed a product that you could run 5-6k in, you could play b’ball, tennis, work out in the gym. It was the start of the aerobics craze.
This was sort of the male version of that. Tinker started with a low and then he came up with the mid which had that famous strap on it."

"People reacted to that first shoe. Grey and white and green. Tinker had gone to a club and there was a company out of Finland that made these amazing speakers and they were green and white and chrome. And he was fascinated by that, so that’s where the original colourway came from. If you’re gonna do something new, then you have to get off the beaten track.
We could have made it white and navy but that wouldn’t tell the whole story would it? People said we were crazy but Tinker was adamant. Sometimes you just get lucky right?"
