Famed for his injection of lowbrow into the high fashion bloodstream, Jeremy Scott has carved a deserved reputation as a maverick fashionista over the past decade. Supremely well connected in the music and celebrity world, Scott has also had an enduring relationship with adidas that has spawned several projects, including the Keith Haring shoe for Adicolor. These dalliances have now been shaped into a fully fledged Originals by Originals line of shoes and apparel which dropped in March this year, with a second (and currently top secret) second series planned for August. If the reaction to the current crop is any indication, the next release could prove to be one of the highlights of the year!

Whilst Scott’s whimsical and fearless approach seems incongruous with adidas’s stoic Germanic facade, the odd couple seem to have found a cosy relationship that is really popping eyeballs! Check the monstrous Trefoil tongue and the golden wings for some indication of Scott’s knack for reconfiguring athletic equipment in a way that no one’s ever done before. Compared to McQueen and Yamamoto’s steez, Scott seems to be inspired by the sports aesthetic and immersed in its history rather than detached and embarrassed by it.

Rumors say that the next series of Originals by Originals shoes are designed by David Beckham (WTF?) and James Bond (from LA store Undefeated) and should throw even more spanners into the works. Watch this space....
